ESG SURVEY METHODOLOGY
In this edition of BlogBytes we’ll preview the survey methodology. And in the next BlogBytes we will take a closer look at the results and how they can impact your organization.
But to start with, the ESG Tape Landscape 2020 Survey had four key objectives:
- Understand the existing and emerging technology and business challenges and drivers influencing tape usage and purchasing strategies.
- Examine how tape is being used and is expected to be used to support data protection and modern archiving.
- Determine the technology requirements organizations have when it comes to tape solutions and evaluate the impact of cloud/hyperscalers.
- Assess how growing compliance requirements and ransomware are influencing buying decisions and changing tape topologies.
There were over 300 IT professionals responsible for data protection technology decisions that took part in the survey. They were from organizations with 100 or more employees with about one third in the midmarket tier and two thirds in the enterprise tier. The respondents were from multiple industry verticals including technology, manufacturing, business services, financial and others.
KEY FINDINGS

The study provides comprehensive insight into the minds of LTO technology users
The full eBook that accompanies the webinar contains a wealth of charts and statistics revealing what users really think about LTO technology as well as other storage platforms. The areas that the report will cover include attitudes towards reliability, cost, security as well as tape’s suitability and versatility for different applications and use cases. Arguably, it’s the most comprehensive insight into the minds of tape users that has been available for some time – and respondents have been candid in saying what they think to the independent analyst.
