LTO TAPE USER GETS 80% REDUCTION IN STORAGE COSTS
Want to know how LTO tape is used in a variety of applications? Then you should jump to the Case Study section of the new LTO website. One user case study is about Aardman, an independent and multi-award-winning production studio and creator of popular feature films like ‘Chicken Run’ and the Wallis and Gromit series of movies.
Aardman produces feature films, series, advertising, interactive entertainment and innovative attractions for both the domestic and international market. The company needed to efficiently store video production material at each phase of the workflow while protecting it from accidental or intentional destruction including ransomware attacks all while reducing storage costs. Aardman implemented LTO tape drives and automated libraries. See the case study here.

COMPARE TAPE AND CLOUD STORAGE COSTS
When comparing storage costs you may find that there can be some hidden fees behind that big cloud in the sky. Try the LTO TCO Calculator to get a comparative estimate of the costs for tape storage and cloud service fees. For the ultimate protection against intentional and accidental data destruction an air gap is needed between your stored data and the system to get the data offline helping to prevent unwarranted access. Tape storage is inherently offline, therefore, it is recommended that you use tape at your primary location and your offsite location and that you should make sure your cloud service provider uses tape in the cloud, too.
The new LTO Program website is attractive and easy to navigate but most importantly it is chock full of data protection and cost cutting information – Come check it out!
